My mother cat is biting her newborn kitten. What should I do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Bombay | Female | unspayed | 1 year old

Hi, my cat had 2 kittens 2 days ago and one of them seems to be smaller than the other one. The small kitten was sleeping until the mother bit its face! She keeps biting the same one and it's always on it's face. The kitten cries loudly and doesn't stop until she's stopped biting, I had to push my cat away because I was scared she would hurt it. What do I do? I'm really worried to leave them alone tonight. Thanks

Hello, sorry to hear about Sooty. You can separate the kitten and bottle feed it to nurse it. You may obtain kitten formula from your local petstore and feed the kitten every 2 hours or so. Hope this helps and best of luck.
