Is it safe to use Frontline Plus on my cat with a Seresto collar?

I've had a Seresto collar on my 2 cats for a couple weeks and wanted some extra protection, is it safe to use Frontline Plus while they have the collars on?

You can use Frontline plus while they have the Seresto collar but this should not be necessary as Seresto is good for at least 6 months. So I would not recommend applying an additional flea and tick preventive.

    Hello. 1. The collar can be put on immediately after the Frontline is done. 2. Dead fleas fall off the pet or may be groomed off. Cats are very efficient at doing this. 3. Fleas prefer to spend their entire lives on a pet, but this does not mean one may jump off its host onto someone else. Once a tick attaches, it remains there until it is full of blood or detaches to move to another host or dies. 4. The Seresto collar has no odor nor any residue that comes off. My two house dogs & house cat all wear this collar. I love them. 5. Repel means to keep or force away, so the Seresto collar discourages fleas & ticks from setting up on a pet. Hello. Yes, absolutely you can use both, but since the collar lasts 8 months, remove it for a week after you reapply the Frontline Plus. Then you can safely put the collar back on. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

Cats are exquisitely sensitive to flea medication, so I would not put the Seresto collar on Willow just yet. Wait at least two weeks, then apply it. You can give her Capstar now. It’s a one time pill that starts killing fleas and is safe to give. I hope this helps!

Can Seresto be used with frontline, or advantage? I have heard alot of raving things about Seresto, but i am skeptical about flea collars working. If i bought one can i put it on my dog even tho she was treated with advantage? She has a flea allergy
It is ok to use Seresto along with other topical products, just not oral ones. In some pets there can be a little skin irritation, so watch out for that and notify your vet if this happens. Otherwise, you should be fine to go ahead with Seresto to see if this does the trick. I would also recommend using a flea fogger to treat your home, which can be found at your local Home Depot or Lowe's. If you still don't have good results with the Seresto collar, then I would wait at least 2 weeks and consider better products such as Simparica or Nexgard. My cat had a reaction to the Seresto flea and tick collar. When should I administer a topical medication like Frontline Plus for Cats?
I would wait until the skin reaction from the collar has completely healed before putting another topical medication on the skin. I would recommend asking your vet if you can give a dose of Comfortis this month. It is an oral flea prevention so you won’t have to worry about the skin at all. I hope this helps. Hello there! Once you remove the Seresto collar, you can safely use the Frontline Plus topical. You do not need to wait and you do not need to give Lucy a bath first with the Dawn dish soap. Great question!

I put Frontline Plus on my cat 6 days ago. However, the fleas didn’t go away. I gave him a bath yesterday with Dawn dish soap, but the fleas immediately came back. I just went out and got a Seresto collar. Can I put it on my cat now?
Hello, thank you for your question about Jumi. Yes it is safe to put the Seresto collar on him now. One of the challenging aspects of flea preventatives is that in order for many products to work the flea has to bite, this is when they are exposed to the active ingredient and this leads to death. Therefore, just seeing live fleas doesn't mean the product isn't working. A very important part of the treatment of fleas is treatment of the environment. I would recommend purchasing a carpet shampoo that is specifically designed to help with flea treatment. If the collar does not treat all of Jumi's fleas I would recommend contacting your veterinarian to discuss the need of an additional flea treatment, such as Capstar. This helps to quickly kill any adult fleas on the cat. Hope this helps, good luck!

We are giving our 40 pound beagle the sentinel spectrum, it's for heartworm, fleas and says treats and controls tapeworms, whip,round and hook worms. It is a chewable. Is it to much to also put a seresto 8 month collar on him also? Is it necessary?
It is certainly not too much to use a Seresto collar with Sentinel! In my experience, Sentinel alone is not sufficient for proper flea control, but is great for heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention. The Seresto collar will prevent ticks and fleas, which is quite important. To answer your question, yes, use both! :-)

Hello! I put a Seresto collar on my cat 3 days ago and it does not seem to be working to kill fleas. Can I safely combine the Seresto collar with flea drops or Capstar?
Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. Flea products should not be combined as there is an increased risk of side effects. The manufacturers state that they do not have data on using two or more flea products at the same time, hence they consider that as potentially dangerous. So, if Seresto is not working for Spike, you need to take it off and start giving Capstar (or any other new flea treatment) after 2-3 days.

Can I combine Frontline and a Soresto collar on a dog? The collars weren't treating ticks but the frontline isn't treating fleas.
Yes you will not likely have any problems using both. The more baths you give the shorter the collar will work also. You might want to look into Bravecto, a 3 month pill for fleas and ticks that is working well
