Hello. Barring any complications, recovery is pretty quick, usually a day or so. But we do recommend taking things easy for 10-14 days to give all the tissues a chance to heal. There is also a small chance that a male dog may have some residual sperm in his reproductive tract that could potentially get a female dog pregnant. After 2 weeks, everything should be completely healed & your pet can return to full activity. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.

Hi and thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. We recommend that Link stay quiet with a reduced activity for 14 days after his surgery. This will ensure that the incision heals properly. We also recommend that he wear an Elizabethan collar to prevent him from licking the incision causing secondary infections. Good luck!!
