Will spayed/neutered littermate kittens try to mate when mature?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 3.6 lbs

I have 2 kittens from the same litter a boy and a girl both were spayed/neutered at around 11 weeks is there a possibility that they will want to mate with each other when they mature?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is unlikely that they will act in a sexual nature toward each other since they were each spayed/neutered before becoming sexually mature. As I'm sure you are aware, cats being brothers and sisters normally does not stop them from breeding. But since they are both sterilized, they will likely not try to mate with each other. If they do for some reason, they will not be able to produce kittens. I hope this is helpful!
