over excitement or exercise causes dog to vomit

Yes, this can happen, especially if they just ate Right before hand. But, if it is a continual thing or vomiting is happening when the dog is not so worked up, please see your vet for some diagnostics. Try not to feed the dog right before a stressful event or before a big run. Bloating can be a problem is they eat and run too much, especially if they drink a lot of water.

IT could be both, try to buy a special bowl for him to eat slower (from any pet shop), don't let him go outside and play right after food to try and prevent this from happening. if it doesn't help - take him to the vet to get it checked and treated.
