Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 3 years and 9 months old | 8.8 lbs
My dog had a crust spot on his left hind side. I was trying to get it and fur came off in my hand. The vet said it was a cyst that got infected. (No aspiration, only examination) My pup is on antibiotics for a week, has a return vet appt., but has a little bald patch. How do I know if he's responding to the meds? Is he in any danger of a serious issue? Will his hair grow back? Thank you.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! The initiation of the healing process is the formation of a scab. It will eventually fall off and the hair grow back if this was just a simple infection. If you do not find any discharge and it does not smell bad, this is likely healing so it would be best to not take the scab off. Good luck and have a great day!
