Is my dog's kibble safe to eat if a mouse chewed through the bag?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 11 years and 8 months old | 95 lbs

I noticed a hole the size of a dime on the side of a new bag of my dog's dog food. It looked as though a mouse had chewed on it. Is it still safe to feed my dog the bag of dry kibbles?

No, I would not recommend you feed that food. You could contact where you bought the bag of food or the manufacturer to enquire wether it is normal for a bag of food being breached by mouse. Hope this helps, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach !
