Puppy has bloody stool after deworming. Is it a serious concern?

I just found out my 8 week old shihtzu has a hernia and Im worried. The vet said its not life threatening but im scared to even touch her now because i dont want to make anything worse. I also found out she had a few worn eggs in her and they gave her a pill for it. Now her poop has blood in it. What should I do. Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Female | 2 lbs

There is no reason to panic with a hernia unless there are other problems associated with it and if it is a very large hernia. I see many umbilical hernias in puppies and many times, these can be addressed at the time of the spay / neuter. You do not have to worry about touching Mimi as this will not worsen the hernia. As for the blood in the stool, I would recommend initiating a bland diet as outlined below and feed this for at least 3-5 days beyond the resolution of the bloody stool. If the blood becomes more prominent and new symptoms develop, then I would recommend having Mimi checked out by a veterinarian so that the most appropriate treatment recommendations can be made.
