How long to wait to introduce a new mouse after parasite treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Unknown - Small Animal | Female | unspayed

Recently i bought two female mice and a couple days ago i brought my mouse blossom to the vet but she sadly passed due to complications amputating her prolapse, leaving me with a lonely mouse (Willow). When we went to the vet we found out that the mice came with three different parasites, giardia, pinworm and tapeworms, willow should be done her treatment in 2 or 3 weeks and i was just wondering how long i need to wait after Willow is done her treatment to introduce a new mouse to her.

Once Willow's treatmient is done you can introduce a new mouse. However, I would quarantine the new mouse for a few days and have the vet examine her to make sure she has no parasites or illness to pass on to your present healthy mouse. Once the vet gives the go ahead, it should be fine.
