Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 4 years and 4 months old | 57 lbs

Why do my dog’s grand mal seizures only occur at night when he sleeps? It doesn’t happen when he’s napping in the day time or any other time of the day.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Sherman. He is adorable! Seizures are a very frustrating problem due to their unpredictable nature. Some dogs will have one seizure and then never experience another one. The same holds true regarding the time of day the dog experiences seizures. Some as your dog will seem to have at a consistent time. Others will have them day or night. There is no way to predict the timing of the seizures. I hope this information helps!
