Is it normal for my cat to sleep by the heater instead of my room?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years and 1 month old | 7 lbs

Hey guys. So i have a behavioural question... I think. My cat has taken to not being in my room so much and changed sleepin places from either with me or on her cat scratch post, to on a box infront of my heater/hot water tank. If shes acting normal other than that.. Should I worry? My mom says its no cause for concern since shes still acting normal other than not being in my room and not sleeping with me.

It may just be that Mirz is more comfortable there if she's too hot/cold, however if you are seeing any other changes in addition to the change in sleeping spot such as weight changes, hair loss, changes in appetite, stool, activity, etc, it is always best to schedule a vet visit to rule out any more serious issues such as underlying illness or metabolic disease.
