Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 11 months old
My dog is moving his one front leg alot when lying down & awake. Raising it in the air or continuously moving it to another spot or position. He had a seizure about 2 months ago so it’s making me nervous. I felt it all over and he doesn’t seem to be in any pain & he runs fine. I should mention that he had to have iv a couple weeks ago for 24hrs for dehydration and it was in that same leg that he’s moving a lot. He was on forta flora but is stoppe 3 days ago & its extremely humid. Mabye factors?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Jeter. There are a variety of reasons that a dog will hold a paw up. Start by checking between his toes for anything stuck in there that could be potentially irritating to him. Next, check all of his toenails to ensure there is not a cracked or torn one. This would be painful as well. Joint pain can cause him to hold his leg up as can neck pain radiating down the leg. His catheter site from the recent IV could be infected. In this case, the catheter site would be red, painful and swollen. Lastly, dogs can have partial seizures that only affect one limb. If his symptoms persist, I would recommend that he sees his veterinarian. In the meantime, encourage him to eat and drink as normal. Do not give any over-the-counter pain medication as these can be toxic to dogs. I hope this information helps!
