My dog is in heat and her private area trun dark but is changing back to pink I was out of town could this be a result of having sex . It's never done that befor. Pet's info: Dog | American Pit Bull Terrier | Female | unspayed | 9 years and 6 months old | 60 lbs

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That isn't a sign of having mated. It is likely due to the hormones of being in heat. She is older now and hormones change. If she has access to male intact dogs breeding is always possible. You won't know for 5-6 weeks if she is possible pregnant. Have a good day!
