What heartworm medicine should my puppy take before a long trip?

Hello. Thank your for this service. My question is about taking my 6 month old puppy to Indiana from California and I haven't started her on heart worm pills yet. The trip would be until 8/8 but I need to take her. Is there any advice to keep her safe with any specific medicine? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | 5 months and 14 days old | 9 lbs

Unfortunately, nowadays heart worm occurs in every state. So you can check with your vet and get her started on heartworm medication before your trip. Apart from that she should have the full course of vaccinations including a rabies vaccination.
