Why is my cat frequently coughing and sneezing like a hairball?

I have a cat who has recently been coughing/sneezing with her chin lowered, as if trying to clear hair from her throat. I know that all cats do this from time to time, but she seems to be doing it too frequently. She is otherwise fine - no other symptoms. She is a 10 year old tortie who is somewhat overweight and has short but very dense fur. Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 11 lbs

At this age an upper respiratory infection is less likely, unless she has not been vaccinated in the past few years. i would recommend a vet visit ASAP, it could be something else such as nasal polyps for example.
