My dog ate a chicken wing, now stomach noises & won't eat. Vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 2 months and 29 days old | 22 lbs

About to days ago my dog was able to sneak a chicken wing and he eventually swallowed it whole. Last night he was having diarrhea but today in the morning his bowel was normal, however his stomach has now started making odd noises and is refusing to eat. I’m unsure what that means, should I take him to the vet or try feeding him chicken and rice?

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! That could have resulted in an obstruction which is now causing inappetence. Another possibility is of course dietary indiscretion. I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. This is likely going to require some bloodwork and abdominal imaging such as radiographs or ultrasound. If an obstruction is noted, further therapy may be needed. Good luck and have a great day!
