My cat's flea treatment failed. Can I use a new one or DE now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Mediumhair | Female | spayed | 36 years and 5 months old | 7 lbs

I used a fipronil based flea treatment that is not working 20 days ago. Can I use a Pyriproxyfen based solution or do I wait until day 30? Can I put food grade diatomaceous earth on their fur? My babies are suffering!

Hello and welcome to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. You can use the Pyriproxyfen based product, you don't have to wait until day 30. Diatomaceous earth on the fur will not treat fleas, this will just make your cat dirty. Best of luck with Katarina!
