Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Female | spayed | 3 years and 11 months old
My cat, Oreo, has been sneezing a lot lately. It started up about 3-4 days ago and is still persisting. I don’t see any runny nose and she’s a rather healthy cat. She never goes outside or anything like that and my other cats have no health problems either. However, I’m getting worried of why she’s sneezing so often. It could be about 5-6 times or more a day. Its not a simple sneeze, but multiple sneezes at the same time. Any answers would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Oreo. While seasonal allergies can cause sneezing, a respiratory tract infection is more likely in my experience. I am glad that she is acting normal otherwise. If her sneezing persists though, she will need to see her veterinarian. She may require an antibiotic. There is no need to keep her separate from your other cats. If she is contagious, she has already exposed them. Monitor them for any similar signs. I hope this information helps!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding your cat. I would recommend making an appointment to see your veterinarian tomorrow. That is a lot of sneezing! It may be due to a respiratory tract infection or an allergy to something in the house or blowing in from outdoors. A medication may be needed to help alleviate the signs. In the meantime, do not give any over-the-counter medications as these can be toxic to cats. I hope this information helps!

Poor kitty. It sounds like your kitty may have either nasal mites or allergies. I would have him seen by your vet soon for a proper exam first then the vet can prescribe some medication to help with the sneezing. If nasal mites are suspected after physical exam, the vet can prescribe medication. I would also make sure to dust your home, use Heppa filters, and consider any aerosolized irritants that may be causing his sneeze. Best of luck with your kitty and I hope that those sneezing fits resolve soon! Take care.

It's possible that Princess and Hazel could have allergies, but it's also possible that this is an upper respiratory infection of some kind - especially since both cats are affected. If the sneezing is minor and they are acting normal otherwise, you could opt to monitor them for the next few days to see if the problem resolves. If there is no improvement in the next 7-14 days, or if they develop any other symptoms such as acting lethargic, having trouble breathing, or not wanting to eat, I would recommend taking them to the vet for an exam as they may need antibiotics or other medication to treat the problem.
