My cat got many antibiotic shots after neuter and injury. Is it safe?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered

Hi. My cat got into a fight and needed 5 stitches across his ear and at the same day we also got him neutered. The vet administered an antibiotic shot and an anti rabies shot.( my cat has no prior vaccination ) however he suggested we keep coming in for more antibiotic shots. I’ve gone twice and my poor baby has had a total of 8 shots in the course of 4 days. Is this okay because in the country I live in vets are most always concerned with making money

Hello. So sorry to hear that Jimin had this problem. I don't know what antibiotic they are injecting so it is hard for me to say if it is too much. If you would like to post again with the name of the drug we could maybe help you better. If Jimin is acting well and the incision with the stitches seems to be healing ok then you might be alright to stop the injections. Again, it is difficult for me to make that determination as I am not sure what he has been given. If you would like to post again with more information you are welcome to do so and we may be able to help you better. Best wishes!
