My baby rat has a broken arm and is breathing heavily. What to do?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

What shoul I do? My baby rat probably fractured his arm, there is no movement in whole arm. I try to hold him down so he don't do any thing worse and just relax a little but he keeps on trying to escape. His arm is moving on it's own, like it's not working with body anymore. He's heavy breathing. When I found him on the groud he wasn't moving at all but then I feed him and he's better, just the arm. Is he going to die even tho he's looking better now? I don't know what to do. I have no way to go

If he’s eating and drinking then keep him in a small cage so he can heal. He should improve over several weeks. The heavy breathing is probably from pain and will get better as he improves. Do not give any medication and I would let him be quiet and rest. With less movement and rest he should get better.
