Hi there. You can try a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure just before the trip, along with a DAP pheromone collar. If she gets extremely anxious and you think this might not be enough, I would suggest talking to your veterinarian about prescription anti-anxiety medication such as trazodone or clonazpam.

It depends on what your concerns are - if your puppy rides well in the car, you shouldn't need to give her anything. If she gets anxious or has trouble with motion sickness, your vet can prescribe medication for these issues that is safe and effective. Other options would include a DAP pheromone collar, or a natural calming supplement like Zylkene or Composure.

As a sedative i usually recommend Xanax, it helps them sleep through the ride. for car sickness i usually use Cerenia tablets. both medications are prescription only and you can get them from your vet.

Generally speaking i would say that you should ask your vet for Xanax, ACP or Diazepam tablets for those rides, although that would probably not be suitable every time, it depends why you are taking her to the vet.

You can start by taking her on very short rides and see how she does. Gradually increase the distance, once she is okay with the short rides. If she doesn't improve than you may need to ask your vet for a sedative to help her remain calm during the car ride.
