Why is my dog moody after waking, eating, or sensing territory?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Male | neutered | 1 year and 1 month old | 26 lbs

Have you ever found dogs to be moody for life ? The reason is that my dog acts moody after waking up , after eating food , after someone’s been in his territory ( even though he hasn’t seen him/her - but just he smell of footsteps ) He’s had some aggression issues which overcame by using Prozac . Why these things happen ? He’s a happy dog ( apart from those mood swings ) What we do is to leave him alone to his sleeping area for that whole moody time ( he’s always on a leash now )

I do have clients who have dogs that are moody like Bongo. Sometimes it helps if they get a trainer to come to their home and other times they need medication for life. If the medication helps then I would recommend putting him on that and also getting a trainer to come to your home to try and work with him.
