My dog's lip has a cut that won't heal. Is it an infection or mass?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My dog has had this in his lip for about a month maybe a little longer. I thought it was just a cut at first but it won’t heal. Is it something I should be worried about?

Looks like it could be a deep infection. These usually require antibiotics for a while to get them to go away. Possible it's a little mass as well. Hard to tell from the pictures. Recommend having it looked at. They might want to aspirate with a needle and see if they can tell what kind of cells are in it to try and make a diagnosis.
