Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 5 months old

My lab when weather gets hot n humid start scratching, itching, having rednes n lot of bald spots.Vet gave her antibiotic and corticosteroid and itch stopped and with viacutan plus her hair started growing again, although itch reapeared after a week again!we dont live close to nature and flora that can cause alergy and we changed her diet from pork n chicken to only raw fish n rice.im suspicious of yeast infection.also before itch reapeared i took her for a swim in river which could help yeast grow

It is possible that the underlying cause may be allergic skin disease and long term management may be required with medication, specialist shampoos for yeast and bacteria which are common in itchy/damaged skin and specialist diets and supplements such as viacutan. Allergies are possible to airborne pollen even in urban areas as well as foods and dust mites etc and cannot be ruled out in any location
