My dog is shaking and lethargic after running away. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hi, my dog ran away about 3 days ago and we managed to find him after a day and a half, but since returning home he has been shaking alot (even when sitting Infront of the heater/ fire place and having a blanket under and on-top of him) and he also has no energy to move at all. What could be the reason for his lack of energy and the shaking?

Shaking can be a sign of pain, fever, nausea or dehydration. If you haven’t had your dog examined by a vet since he ran away I think you should to make sure he isn’t painful or dehydrated. They can also take his temperature to make sure he doesn’t have a fever.
