My lost cat is sneezing, limping, and not eating. What's wrong?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Ragdoll | Male | neutered | 7 lbs

My cat just came home from being lost for about a week 5 days ago. Since then, he has been sneezing and gagging (with nothing coming out) a lot. But he was behaving normally. I came home today and found him in an unusual place. The back of his front legs and chest felt slightly wet and he refused food but drank some water. I made him get up and he was limping. He hasnt been responding to name calling. He was perfectly normal this morning mood-wise. What is wrong with him?

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Skoshi. I recommend that he sees his veterinarian today. He may have acquired a respiratory tract infection causing the sneezing you are reporting. It bothers me that he is limping though as he could have sustained a bite wound or another form of trauma to his leg. He will need a thorough examination to determine the extent of his problems and medications to make him feel better. In the meantime, encourage him to eat and drink normally. I hope this information helps!
