My dog has been scratching for about a week after his flea treatment shampoo . I can’t see any fleas no more but his under legs are now having a lot of small red spots . First on one side of the leg and now all over his under legs . Sometimes a spot got puss too . He’s feeling a lot agitated and scratching too much . When called a vet , she advised Claritin 10mg per day ( antibacterial ) - it’s been 3 days but spots ain’t decreasing . Can you advise what’s wrong with my dog ? And the cure please

The red spots that you are seeing on Bongo may be due to a bacterial skin infection that is due to the fleas and/or from scratching. Claritin is actually an antihistamine that can help with the itching, but if it does not seem to be helping, then Bongo may need an antibiotics to resolve the skin infection. I would recommend contacting your veterinarian to see if she would recommend an oral antibiotic or if Bongo may be able to use a medicated shampoo. Don't forget that a flea shampoo will only work for a few days, so you will also need to get Bongo on a long term flea prevention in order to prevent future flea problems. Good luck! I hope that was helpful. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
