My dog has a weird belly bump after mast cell tumors. What is it?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Boston Terrier | Female | spayed | 5 years and 2 months old | 20 lbs

Gracie has had two surgeries for mast cell tumors last year. Today I was cradling her and noticed a weird bump on her belly. Any idea of what it could be and how to treat it?

I would recommend going to your veterinarian and having them perform an aspirate of the growth. Without an aspirate or biopsy you can't say what this growth is. I would be concerned about mast cell tumors in Gracie if she had two others removed from her last year. If it is a mast cell tumor I would recommend having the tumor graded and following up with an oncologist for more up to date information for her.
