My cat's urine is foamy, but he's normal. Should I be concerned?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 years and 5 months old | 10 lbs

My cat was peeing last night & it looked a bit foamy, but I couldn't tell if it was because he peed in the very corner of the litterbox or not. When he peed outside today, it looked a bit foamy again. He shows absolutely no signs of pain or abnormal behavior whatsoever. He eats and drinks water regularly. Should I be concerned? Please help!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Charlie. It sounds like he is otherwise acting normal. As long as this is true and he does not have a history of urinary disease, it should be fine to monitor him. If he develops blood in the urine, straining to urinate or starts to act ill, then he will need to see his veterinarian. Offer plenty of fresh water to keep him well hydrated as this will help his urinary system. I hope this information helps!
