Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | British Shorthair | Female | spayed

Hello, my 2 yr old female cat has been acting very strange lately, she hasn't been eating or drinking much in the last few days, she used to be very playful and active but now she doesn't play and sleeps most of the time. I don't know what happened or why her behavior changed within only few days. She has been getting skinner because she hasn't been eating , I don't know what to do as she refuses to eat or drink. Please help!

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Kiki. She will need to see her veterinarian today as a cat is usually quite ill by the time they are refusing food. Cats are normally good at hiding signs of illness so they can have a serious disease if they are no longer able to do so. Not eating will place her at risk for dehydration. So see if you can get her to take in any water in the meantime. I hope this information helps. Good luck!

It is unusual that Kiki is so hungry all the time. Constant hunger could be due to a medical problem, such as diabetes or hyperthyroidism. I would take her into the vet tomorrow for an exam. The vet can do a physical exam, routine blood tests, and a urinalysis to diagnose if she does have a medical illness causing her extreme hunger. If she does, the vet can prescribe an appropriate treatment.
