My dog digs. Can bleach prevent dysautonomia? Is it safe for her?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Wolf Hybrid | Female | unspayed | 5 months and 27 days old | 75 lbs

Zurrick is kept outside in a pen and often digs holes in the dirt. We are concerned about dysautonomia after losing two other pups. 1. Could spraying bleach water in the holes help prevent contracting dysautonomia? 2. If we spray the holes with bleach water and she continues to dig later, could any harm come to her from the bleach?

Unfortunately, the cause of dysautonomia in dogs is not known. Due to this, there is no proof that bleach would help to decrease the potential of this disease developing. As you mentioned, there is the potential that the bleach could be harmful to Zurrick when she digs, and it can also be harmful to the plant and animal life in your yard as well. With this, I would not recommend utilizing bleach in the yard.
