Why is my spayed dog bleeding with a bad smell and not drinking?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Female | spayed | 4 years and 4 months old | 8 lbs

My 4 yr old Maltese started bleeding from her uterus yesterday and it has a fowl odor. She was spayed as a puppy, and I'm also having a hard time to get her to drink

Baby Girl should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Red discharge as you are describing could be blood due to a urinary tract infection, crystals in the urine, stones in the urinary tract, or trauma. If you notice Baby Girl straining to urinate/unable to produce urine, this is a medical emergency and she should be seen by a vet immediately. Good luck, and I hope she feels better soon!
