Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 2 years and 9 months old
I had Oscar in a cattery for 1 week & it was his first time. A week after having him home he got an ear infection & I noticed open wounds & clumpy fur that looked like snot caught in his fur over his body. The vet treated the ear infection which I'm still doing but when I pointed out the fur they said it was an allergy to something. I have now noticed 2 hard brown lumps on his face closer to his ear & I'm freaking out. What has caused all this. Could he have picked something up from the cattery

I am sorry to hear that Oscar has this going on. Thank you for posting the pictures as they are helpful. I am suspicious that he has a skin infection called pyoderma. This, as well as ear infections are often caused by environmental or food allergies. It is unlikely to be something the “caught” at the cattery as they are not usually contagious. It is possible that he was exposed to a new type of pollen or food sources there that may have triggered his allergies. I would encourage you to follow up with your veterinarian as he may need antibiotics for his skin. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
