My dog has a deep wound from a fight. Does he need a cone or vet care?

Does my dog need a cone or medication? Two of my dogs got into a fight. (a puppy pitbull and a 2 year old yorkie) The pitbull cut the yorkies back leg and the cut is very deep. I have cleaned the wound and cut the hair around it so it doesn’t get infected. But won’t stop trying to bite it and stuff. What do I do next? Should i get him a cone? It has gotten worse and deeper because he won’t stop messing with it.

If Tucker will not leave the wound alone, then an e-collar would be recommended. If it is possible that the wound is a bite wound, then I would recommend having your vet examine the area. Regardless of how well we keep a bite wound clean, they tend to get infected and require antibiotics. And since Tucker has been licking and chewing at the area, he may have gotten it infected himself. Good luck! I hope that was helpful and that Tucker heals well.
