My puppy stopped eating and can't walk. Could it be the antibiotics?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

My 6 months old puppy slowly stopped eating. The vet prescribed certain antibiotics. Today morning he was not able to walk properly. It seems he's having some kind of pain in his limbs. What to do next?

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Oh no! Poor Poplin What antibiotics were prescribed? I would stop them and call your Vet immediately. He should be rechecked today or be taken to an open emergency room. Metronodazole can causes vestibular signs. Other causes for young dogs to have walking problems are meningitis, tick borne diseases, granulomatous brain disease, viral infections like distemper. I would have him seen as soon as your can. I wish you the best!
