My Yorkie whimpers after jumping. Is he hurt? Should I delay dental?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 4 years old | 7 lbs

My Yorkie jumped off the couch today and started whimpering and was in pain/discomfort for an unknown reason. He has whimpered once much less a couple hours early. Prior to that he has never done that. He got groomed 2 days ago and outside of that has had no recent changes. He is supposed to get a dental cleaning uber anesthesiology Thursday but i am wondering if i should cancel depending on how serious this could be. He is still in discomfort but has moments of looking completely fine.

Poor guy. He may have a muculoskeletal injury or even a muscle sprain is possible. It is difficult to say without seeing him walk and examining him. It is best to at least get him examined by your vet before his appt on Thursday. You may not have to postpone it if he checks out ok. I hope that Remmie starts to feel more comfortable soon! Best wishes and take care.
