My kitten meows loudly when carried. Is it normal behavior or pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | 4 months and 1 day old

When i carry my kitten she starts to meow really loud , when i first got her she used to meow because she hates being carried, but sometimes i have to carry her , and when I gently pressed on her backbone to see if she was hurting she didn’t show any sign of pain , so is that a normal reaction because she hates being carried or is there something else ?

Hello, it definitely sounds like Kiara does not tolerate being carried. I don't think that she is painful and more so that she resents being carried. Some cats do show this type of behavior and its sometimes difficult to change. Look for any reluctance to walk or jump, look for any evidence of limping, or mewing when not being carried. If any of these are noted than you could be more concerned that she is painful. If so, then she should be seen by her veterinarian promptly. Hope this helps and best of luck.
