My unvaccinated dog bit me. What does 10-day rabies quarantine mean?

My dog bit me and has NOT received his rabies shot. He is not aggressive and is very friendly with people. He was sleeping, I bothered him, & he got scared so he bit me. I’ve been told he needs to be quarantined for ten days. Does that mean i have to isolate him and watch him and see what happens after those ten days? Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 20 lbs

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! It means keep in the house and on a leash. Keep him away from animals and children. You just want to keep an eye on him and not expose him to anything that will make him get sick in the 10 day window that may confuse if he has Rabies or something else. Once the 10 days is up have him vaccinated and this won't be a worry any longer! Have a good day!
