Hi, thanks for using PetCoach! I am so sorry that Max is sick! We are not legally allow to prescribe medications because we are unable to examine the pets, which is required to have a client-veterinary-patient relationship. A week is a long time to be sick. Causes of vomiting and diarrhea are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, he ate something gross. he has something stuck (blockage), pancreatitis, inflammatory bowel disease, food allergy/intolerance, reaction to new food/treat/table food. In an ideal work Max needs a Vet exam, a fecal test for worms and X-rays of his belly. If that is fine then I would deworm him, start an anti-nausea like cerenia (veterinary only) or metoclopramide for the vomiting, metronidazole for the diarrhea and put him on a commercial intestinal diet like Hill's i/d until his stools are normal. If you truly have no access to a Vet. I would deworm him with pyrantel or drontal, change his cat food protein source (chicken to beef or fish to chicken), and start a probiotic like Purina Fortiflora. I wish you the best! https://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=3464

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Ed! I recommend discussing the following with your Vet: Hydrolyzed prescription diet (Hill's z/d, Royal canin HP, Purina HA), Purina fortiflora (probiotic), metronidazole if it hasn't been tried. If it has then I would try tylosin. I recommend a fasted Malabsorption/maldigestion profile. Your Vet can also do a trial of pancreazyme. If all that has been tried then I recommend referral to an Internal Medicine specialist for an ultrasound and possibly intestinal biopsies. I hope this helps and I wish Ed the best!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Batman (great name!)! It is unfortunate that you can't medicate Batman but cats and toddlers are the hardest creatures to get medications in to! I'm going to assume that your vet tested him for parasites and ran full geriatric blood work to help find a cause for this protracted bout of diarrhea. I would confine Batman, personally, to contain the pooping to one room. Give him a break from trying to medicate him and order some probiotics. I like Purina Fortiflora because cats like it and you sprinkle the powder on the food once daily. If he likes it and there is no improvement in 7-10 days see if your Vet can compound metronidazole or tylosin in to a liquid to put in his food or into a treat. It costs more but if he will eat a medicated treat that would solve your problems. I would have your Vet order the treat in different flavors WITHOUT the medication added to see which he likes and so he thinks they are just treats and not medications. I hope this helps and I wish you and Batman the best!
