Why did my dog vomit after eating too much but seems fine now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Maltese | Male | neutered | 1 year and 2 months old | 12 lbs

Is it possible for my dog to vomit simply because he ate too much dinner? He ate his normal dinner and then a few treats. Then at 2 am, proceeded to vomit all of it. He refused water and treats immediately after, but the next morning, he was back to begging for his breakfast.

Vomiting can happen for a multitude of reasons. Eating a new item, overindulgence, or eating something disagreeable in the yard are all possible. If he is back to normal today with good appetite, energy, and no more vomiting I would just continue to monitor him.
