My cat licked popcorn. Are rosemary extract and soy lecithin toxic?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | spayed | 8 years old | 7 lbs

Soy Lecithin, Rosemary Extract, Asorbic acid Are any of these ingredients toxic? The rosemary extract is what worries me a little. Because I googled it and I'm finding conflicting reports of it being toxic and the rosemary oil being toxic. My cat got a few licks of sea salt Carmel popcorn and these are some of the ingredients.

I suspect that the very small amount that would have been in the sea salt popcorn would not be harmful. We would not want a cat to be exposed to a concentrated source of rosemary oil, but in a popcorn its highly unlikely it would be a problem. Soy lecithin is ok, and Ascorbic Acid is Vitamin C which is fine. I am sorry that we weren't able to get to your question sooner. Thank you for asking Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach!
