My kitten coughed after wood polish. Is the smell irritating her?

Hello. My kitten is about 8 months old. For the past few days we have been having renovations at our house. This includes all the wood getting polished. The kitten has been roaming freely around the house as usual. Today in the morning she coughed. It was dry. She did it again a few minutes later. After that she was normal. She played, ate and then went to nap. Could it be that the smell of the polish is irritating her? Is this normal?

Anything irritating in the air could potentially cause a transient cough, but if the polish is the cause I would expect it to stop in the next few days. If the cough continues however you should have Cuddle's examined by your vet. Asthma, certain parasites, and some infections can all cause a cough. If Cuddles seems to be having difficulty breathing either while coughing or in between coughing episodes you should see a veterinarian right away.
