Why is my cat blowing white foam from mouth and nose after medicine?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | 2 months old | 5 lbs

My cat has been very sick lately, I’ve tried many methods of curing him but it’s no use. This morning, I fed him some medicine and he started to blow white foam from his mouth and nose. (He’s been throwing up too, but not white foam.) Please help me, thank you.

Cats are very sensitive to the taste of medicine. If it is bitter, the cat will foam and froth at the mouth in an attempt to clear the bad taste. It is never recommended to medicate your pet without the advice of your veterinarian. Many over the counter medications can be toxic to cats. Ideally, Black Bean should be physically examined by your veterinarian to diagnose any underlying causes. Blood work and xrays may be indicated after a physical exam. Supportive care (IV or subcutaneous fluids, anti emetics, etc) may be needed until a diagnosis is reached.
