My dog's toe is swollen after vet care. Can colloidal silver help?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Siberian Husky | Female | spayed | 2 years and 3 months old | 50 lbs

Hi! About 3 weeks ago my dogs toe was enflamed and swollen. The toe kind of looks like it’s coming out of her nail bed. She was licking it a lot and I ended up bringing her to the vet. The vet gave me some hydro something to mix into water to wash her foot with. After doing this treatment my dog no longer licks her toe but it is still swollen. (Looks the same now as it did before just she’s not licking it). Is this something colloidal silver can help? (she’s not in any pain)

Hi there and thanks for posting on Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Glad to hear Bailey is not licking her paws any longer and does not appear in pain. However, from the pictures your sent, the area around the nail does look a bit swollen and red. You can try the colloidal silver cream to see if it helps in addition to soaking the feet in an Epsom salt water bath 2-3 times a day for 5-10 mins. If this doesn't help or if her paws get worse, she may need antibiotics from her veterinarian. I hope this helps!
