My stray kitten is very sick and weak. What should I do immediately?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Female | unspayed

I just found a stray kitten, maybe 8 weeks old, without a mother. I took it in yesterday, but today it looks like it is in horrible condition. She is barely breathing, and she does not want to open her eyes. She previously threw up, and now she is pooping constantly. She seems very weak, unable to stand up or do anything. Please tell me what I can do for her

Liberty is quite sick and needs a mediate attention at either your regular veterinarian or an emergency veterinarian. Because she is only eight weeks old, I worry that her weakness and difficulty to breathe will cause her to pass away unless we get her started on some IV fluids and Oxygen therapy. If a veterinary visit cannot be done at the present time then the only thing that you can do is administer small bits of Karo syrup orally as well as put a fan in front of her nose to possibly help with keeping her cool. But again, I feel that a veterinary visit as soon as possible will be the only way to save her life.
