Why does my dog have bumps and a dry spot on his skin suddenly?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Pit Bull Terrier | Male | unneutered | 30 lbs

What is wrong with my pup? I've had him for 3 months now and everything has been fine but now these bumps have appeared on his back and this dry spot on I'm guessing his heel. Just curious as to what it could be as far as right now because i won't be able to go to a vet until Friday, He has had his shots, I feed him Authority & GNC dog food, and he is outside when i go to work but other than that he is a house dog.

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Possible causes are a skin infection from either yeast or bacteria or even both, demodex or even rignworm. Sadly they can all look like this. I would take Ace to the Vet and have his skin looked at. A skin infection tends to be easy to diagnose visually. Demodex requires a skin scrape and ringworm is a fungus that needs to be cultured. I wish Ace a speedy recovery!
