Is it safe to give my dog Benadryl with Apoquel for itching?

Dove takes apoquel for itching when it gets bad. I figured its 1/2 pill every 24 hrs. It doesnt seem to be helping as the pill wears off becuase we give both dogs half a pill for dinner every night. So is it safe to give her benadryl to help with the itching as well? Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Female | spayed | 4 years and 7 months old | 8 lbs

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Yes. Benedryl can be safely used in conjunction with apoquel. But please give her vet a call to discuss her medications- they may want to increase her apoquel dose or switch to a different medication if it isn’t effective currently.
