Cats ate allergy pills (Loratadine). Do they need emergency vet care?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 3 years and 5 months old | 13 lbs

My two cats got into a bottle of allergy medication. I am wondering if we need to take them to the vet right away? I am not sure how much if any they ingested but the entire bottle was spilled on the floor. It is Loratadine. Thank you in advance for your help!

knowing that cats are extremely picky concerning what they eat, I doubt they actually ingested any of the loratadine. However, I suggest you call the pet poison helpline and have the bottle available for information: 24/7 Animal Poison Control Center 855-764-7661 $59 USD per incident fee applies
