Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This could be a benign or malignant growth. This could also be an abscess. There is no way of knowing what it is just based on its appearance. This is often differentiated by a test called a fine needle aspirate (FNA) which is a pain free, inexpensive and easy procedure which in most cases will help reach a diagnosis. Sometimes a biopsy is needed for a definitive diagnosis. I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. I am really hoping for something benign. Good luck and have a good day!

Hello there, I just wanted to check in on Gracie today. As Dr Fernandez mentioned yesterday, a fine needle aspirate would be a great diagnostic tool. If you haven't gotten her in to the vet yet, and the lump is unchanged or bigger, please consider doing so ASAP. Since she is young, a suddenly appearing lump in that area could very well be an abscess, so seeking treatment sooner rather than later can help it resolve more quickly. I hope you and Gracie are having a good day!
