My cats got flea meds. Is it safe for them to roam with dead fleas?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Domestic Shorthair | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 23 days old | 2 lbs

I took both of my cats to get Revolution, the flea control medication yesterday. This morning, I had been finding dead or semi-dead fleas on the younger kitten and flea dirt on my older cat. Is it safe to let the two of them roam around the house? I have been vacuuming the carpets and have washed beddings.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Yes, that would be ok as long as you keep vaccuuming the floors and surfaces as you have. Finding the dead fleas is certainly a signal that you are doing the right thing. It seems like you have been doing a good job. Good luck and have a great day!
